Award Descriptions

Up to $1 million in awards are available to e-Connect Challenge teams. Teams can earn awards for a variety of activities, so every team will find it has a real chance to receive sizable awards.

Innovator’s Incentive

Teams that submit all required materials for qualification before the first draw deadline on November 28, 2013 and second draw deadline on December 31, 2013 are automatically entered. Each draw includes up to three awards of $3,000 each.

Teams that receive an Innovator’s Incentive are removed from subsequent Innovator’s Incentive draws. To claim an Innovator’s Incentive the team must correctly answer a skill-testing question.

Survey Bonus

Teams that reach the System and Use survey minimum response thresholds by March 31, 2014 will be entered in the draw of up to three Survey Bonus draw incentives of $5000. A team may receive only one Survey Bonus. To claim a Survey Bonus incentive the team must correctly answer a skill-testing question.

Quality Plan Awards

Teams submit a three-page Quality Plan assessing the current quality of their solution and describing how the team plans to measure and improve the quality of their solution. The plans receiving the highest scores from the judging panel based on the criteria will receive one of up to ten Quality Plan Awards of $20,000. Teams are encouraged to use the results of their baseline System and Use surveys to inform their Quality Plans.

To be eligible for the award, a qualified team must submit a Quality Plan (maximum three-page PDF) to the challenge website by 3 p.m. ET June 26, 2014, describing any currently available measures of the solution’s quality, and how the teams plans to measure and improve quality by March 31, 2015.

The criteria applied by the judges will include strength of the team’s assessment of current quality, the team’s track record in improving quality, the strength of the plan to improve quality, and the feasibility of their plan.

Teams must have reached the minimum response level for the baseline System and Use survey to receive a Quality Plan Award.

Adoption Award

The Adoption Awards will be distributed to the teams with the most uses of their solution during the challenge over the period beginning from January 1, 2014 (or the team’s qualification, whichever is later) and ending October 31, 2014.

Up to twelve Adoption Awards are available, with three per category:
First place $30,000 (if at least 3 qualified teams participate in the category)
Second place $20,000 (if at least 5 qualified teams participate in the category)
Third place $10,000 (if at least 5 qualified teams participate in the category)

To receive an Adoption Award, a team must have a minimum of 100 uses of their solution and reached the minimum response level for the baseline System and Use survey by October 31, 2014.

Quality Impact Report Awards

Teams that have reached the minimum number of System and Use survey completions for their team size in both the baseline and follow-up time periods may submit a Quality Impact Report (maximum three-page PDF) to the challenge website by 3 p.m. ET April 30, 2015.

The reports should take the format of leading practice reports describing how the team took action to improve the quality of their solution and/or its effective use, and provide measures of how quality actually improved. The reports receiving the highest scores from the judging panel based on the criteria below will receive one of up to five Impact Report Awards of $25,000.

Teams are encouraged to use the results of their baseline and follow-up System and Use surveys to inform their Quality Impact Report.

Teams must have reached the minimum response level for the baseline and follow System and Use survey to receive a Quality Impact Report Award.

Overall Impact Awards

Consumer Categories

The Overall Impact Award will be awarded to teams with the best combined rank for (i) total volume of use and (ii) highest percentage increase in users from initiation phase to final phase.

The initiation phase is the first three months after a team’s qualification (including the month in which the team qualified) and after January 1, 2014, and the final phase is the three-month period of January 2015 to March 2015.

Teams must have achieved at least 100 uses over the course of the challenge and have 100 users by March 31, 2015, as well as reaching the minimum response level for the baseline and follow-up System and Use survey periods to be receive an Overall Impact Award.

Clinical Categories

The Overall Impact Award will be awarded to teams with the best combined rank for (i) total volume of use and (ii) highest percentage increase in use from initiation phase to final phase.

The initiation phase is the first three months after a team’s qualification (including the month in which the team qualified) after January 1, 2014, and the final phase is the three-month period of January 2015 to March 2015.

Teams must have achieved at least 100 uses over the course of the challenge and reached the minimum response level for the baseline and follow-up System and Use survey periods to receive an Overall Impact Award.

Draw for a Bundle

Organizations that enter teams in multiple challenge categories will be entered in an exclusive draw. Teams earn one ballot per team entered in the challenge (e.g. three tickets for participating in three categories). Organizations with a team only participating in one category are excluded. Up to three draws of $2,000 each are available. Teams can receive only one Draw for a Bundle incentive. The Draw for a Bundle will take place after the conclusion of the challenge on March 31, 2015.

Additional Awards

Infoway, in its sole discretion, may make available other cash and/or non-monetary awards during the course of the challenge. These will be announced on the challenge website.

Non-Monetary Benefits

In addition to monetary awards, Infoway and the challenge’s Supporting Organizations (organizations that support and promote the challenge) have identified a number of opportunities that will be made available to challenge participants throughout the challenge. One of these benefits is assistance in the administration and analysis of the System and Use survey. Other benefits may include education sessions and networking opportunities. Participation in these opportunities is optional. These opportunities will be announced on the challenge website.
