There are a number of ways that Challenge teams can win awards in the Outcomes Challenge.
|Winter 2013 Overall Awards
Awarded to teams with the best combined rank for both total volume of use and momentum.
|Fall 2012 Momentum Awards
Awarded to teams that increase their users (or increase their coverage for medication reconciliation) the most by the end of the Fall reporting period.
|Spring 2012 Trailblazer Awards
Teams were required to submit a Trailblazer Plan. This, together with their qualification video, will be judged using specified criteria.
Awarded to three teams who submitted the best nomination stories (as selected by a panel of judges) before 12 noon (ET) on April 12, 2013.
|Drive to Three Million
Awarded to one team when the number of uses of qualified solutions since the beginning of the Outcomes Challenge reached three million.
|Drive to the Next Million
Awarded to one team when the number of uses of qualified solutions reached two million.
|Early Adopter Awards
Teams that submit qualification materials before December 15, 2011 and qualify for a category in the Challenge were entered in up to three draws.
Awarded to one qualified team from each Challenge category in March, June and October 2012. All qualified teams who had not previously received other Challenge awards or incentives were eligible.
|New Year, New Award
Awarded to one team that qualified for the Challenge before 12 noon (EST) on January 31, 2013.
|Outcomes Challenge Extension
Teams that continued to submit data for the period from April 1 to June 30, 2013 were be eligible.
Winter 2013 Overall Awards
To encourage both use and growth of innovative solutions, teams with the best combined rank in both volume and momentum over the course of the Challenge will receive the Overall Awards.
The combined rank score will be calculated for each Challenge category by adding the team rank for total volume to the team rank for momentum. The teams with the lowest resulting total are the winners.
Fall 2012 Momentum Awards
The Fall 2012 Momentum Awards will be distributed to the teams with the greatest momentum by the end of the Fall reporting period.
How is momentum calculated in each category?
e-Scheduling – per cent increase from baseline in number of users who have booked an appointment
Patient Access to Health Information – per cent increase from baseline in number of users who have viewed health information.
Medication Reconciliation – per cent increase from baseline in the coverage of patients receiving medication reconciliation.
Clinical Synoptic Reporting – per cent increase from baseline in number of clinicians who have contributed to completed reports.
Spring 2012 Trailblazer Awards
The Outcomes Challenge seeks to spur replication and spread of innovative solutions. The Trailblazer Awards will be awarded by a panel of judges. The Judges will score each team’s Trailblazer Plan and video based on six specified criteria. To win a Trailblazer Award, teams must:
- qualify for a Challenge category by 12 noon ET March 31, 2012;
- submit a Trailblazer Plan (max. three page PDF) by March 31, 2012, describing current use of the solution and plans to scale up the use and the number of users over the next year.

The Challenge Champion Award will be selected by a panel of judges and awarded to three qualified teams that submit the most compelling stories describing how their entire team, or an individual team member, made an outstanding contribution to their success in the Challenge.
How do I nominate a Challenge Champion?
To nominate your team or an individual member of your team, simply submit a brief story (250 words maximum) describing how your nominee contributed to your Challenge team’s success. Submit your story by pressing the «login» button and going to the «My Entry » tab. Submission deadline is 12 noon ET on Friday, April 12, 2013. Only one nomination per team will be accepted. Please include a photo of the Challenge Champion.
Drive to Three Million
Awarded to one team when the number of uses of qualified solutions since the beginning of the Outcomes Challenge reaches three million. Teams that have qualified for the Challenge before three million total uses is reached will be eligible, provided that they report their data in the month that three million uses is reached.
Drive to the Next Million
Awarded to one team when the number of uses of qualified solutions reaches two million. Teams who have qualified for the Challenge before two million total uses is reached will be eligible, provided that they report their data in the month that two million uses is reached.
Early Adopter Awards
Early Adopter Awards are available to teams that submit all required materials for qualification by December 15, 2011 and qualify for a Challenge category.
To be eligible, the date and time of submission are the date and time at which all required documentation is submitted to the Challenge website in complete form. If the submission is deemed incomplete and is later re-submitted, the new submission date and time will be used.
Draws will be held five days after qualification decisions have been made for all teams that submitted qualification materials before the draw deadline.
Challenge Incentive Awards
Challenge Incentives are available to teams that qualify for the Challenge before the deadlines listed above. All qualified teams who have not previously received other Challenge awards or incentives are eligible.
New Year, New Award
Awarded to one team that qualifies for the Challenge before 12 noon (EST) on January 31, 2013.
Outcomes Challenge Extension
Teams that continue to submit data, per the ImagineNation Outcomes Challenge Rules and Regulations, for the period from April 1 to June 30, 2013, will be eligible. Teams can earn up to 5 entries for a draw, please see the Outcomes Challenge Extension page for more details.
