How does digital health support patients/caregivers to become more active participants in their health care?

Having access to medical appointments, records and reports / test results online enables patients and caregivers the ability to be more engaged in their daily care and disease management.

Share an experience where digital health had an impact, or could have had an impact, on you as a patient, caregiver or family member.

My husband is now able to access his blood reports online via LifeLabs online portal. By creating a user profile, we are able to review, download and send the report to his hematology oncology specialist who is located at another facility in another Ontario city. This saves both us and his oncologists staff time in searching for lost reports!

The theme of the 2016 Infoway Partnership Conference is “A Conversation About Digital Health”. How do you believe you can contribute to the conversation?

I would like to share our positive experiences with the benefits of accessing digital records and reports online! Such a time saver!

How will you apply and share what you learn from Digital Health Week and the 2016 Infoway Partnership Conference?

I volunteer as a Patient & Family Advisor and currently sit on the Patient & Family Advisory Council with Cancer Care Ontario. We share experiences and information together to help improve Patient Centred Care for all patients and families.
